Same Old Songs
You find yourself listening to the same old songs,
You sit in the same position you once did,
With that secret clutched tight in your hand,
Its like nothing has changed,
The same old familiar pattern begins,
Almost like it never left,
You don't feel the pain,
You just feel the release,
You see that colour, shining bright,
Red and reflected in the light,
The colour that reminds you that you're still alive,
Even though you might not feel it,
It only takes a few, and calm seeps into your mind,
The thoughts are silenced,
At least for a short while,
You put it away, and clean yourself up
Cover your skin, then sink to the floor,
You just sit and let the tears fall,
As you start to become aware,
That you haven't recovered at all,
Guilt rears its head for the people that helped,
Then regret sinks in as you realise you're back to square one,
Recovery is a process,
A never ending war,
That you just have to fight,
You might end up relapsing,
But it'll all be alright,
As long as you are still going,
And try with all your might,
No matter if you break,
People will still love you,
Though they might not understand,
Don't you worry because I do.
